I love the spirit of hospitality! The Greek word for it is, "philoxenia," meaning, "love to strangers or lover of strangers." I personally call it the "ministry of inclusion." Simply, it's intentionally opening your heart and home to the fringe others found at work, school, and church as if they're natural family.
I heard a phrase years ago and believe it to ring true: "Food Fosters Fellowship"~the Tri-F Effect! There is always more room at your family gatherings, holiday meals, and ordinary movie nights. Sharing a pot of coffee or a pitcher of sweet tea is a great way to get started! (decafe is permissible, of course!)
Who isn't dazzled by a five-course, well-dressed table? Who doesn't love the quick clean-up of paper plates and plastic forks? Hospitality is so much more! It's beyond family! However the atmosphere, formal or casual, creating a "gathering space" for others is at the heart of hospitality. Anyone can do it!
I blog to share my experiences taken from large-scale events, small groups, lunches, mugs of coffee, dear friendships, brief acquaintances, and especially, from our own family table. With your permission, that makes me a "philoxenia-ist," your gracious blogging hostess!
I admit, I'm also blogging on some not-so-serious and quirkie points as a proud military wife, momma of three awesome kids, and owner of darling yorkie named Pixie Jane!
